Advanced manufacturing remains one of Mississauga’s key knowledge-based sectors, representing over 1,760 businesses that employ over 81,000 people locally across several subsectors.

The City of Mississauga helps to create an environment for advanced manufacturing that encourages industry connections, builds and grows local supply chains, and creates opportunities for continued innovation and collaboration.

As the City’s Advanced Manufacturing Business Integrator, I provide leadership and support in developing and implementing initiatives that will grow Mississauga’s advanced manufacturing sector.

A key initiative of ours is the creation of an industry-led sector council that provides leadership and direction to the sector on matters such as workforce development, productivity, technology adoption, export readiness, and making B2B connections.

We also work hard to leverage our educational institutions and businesses to build our knowledge economy by encouraging STEM programming in secondary education. Most recently, we had the opportunity to host FIRST Robotics’ district championships, and invited industry leaders to see first-hand the next generation of talent.

The growth and prosperity of advanced manufacturing is a priority for Mississauga, and we will continue to work together to build and grow a sustainable and collaborate ecosystem.
